144 For CBSE Exam

The Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) has urged the State Government to impose Section 144 in the area surrounding examination centres, where Class X and XII examinations will be held from 15 February.

For the first time such an action will be taken as CBSE authorities are strengthening the system and taking safety and security measures in the backdrop of examination paper leakage in 2018.

Class X & XII examinations of CBSE are scheduled to be held from 15 February to 4 April-2019 for students reading in 21,000 schools across the Country.

This year about 33 Lakh students from the country and 17 other countries will be appearing Board Examination being conducted for Class X & XII.

Chairperson CBSE, Anita Karwal has requested the State Government to extend security support for the examination centers located in Odisha.

While there are 459 schools affiliated to CBSE, examination will be held in 124 schools fixed as examination centers.

Ms.Karwal has said “Imposition of Section 144 in the area surrounding examination centers, if deemed necessary” may be clamped.

CBSE Chief requested the State Government to ensure Law and Order in the Districts concerned and District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police are needed to take steps in this regard.

Sufficient Police Deployment is necessary at and near examination centers spread over 30 Districts, said CBSE Chairperson.

While examination will be held from 10 AM to 1.30 PM, there should be uninterrupted power supply during the examination.

A strict vigil on the activities of unscrupulous elements who may attempt to compromise the examinations needed to be kept by the authorities.

Ms.Karwal urged for heightened alert by authorities responsible for collecting intelligence regarding the possibility of such untoward incidents.

Last year CBSE faced tough time due to examination paper leakage and with such an experience, the authorities are taking steps for smooth and fair conduct of examination.
