Awareness For Voters

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar today chaired a meeting of the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) Committee.

This meeting was held in accordance of the Election Commission of India for adequate voters’ participation in the elections through awareness programs.
Accordingly ‘Voters Awareness Forums’ will be set up in all Government, Non-Government and Corporate establishments to make the employees aware about the handling of EVM with VVPATs with a view to augmenting the percentage of votes.
The principal objective of the Voters Awareness Forums is to educate the eligible persons not in the voters list about the importance of voting.
Mr.Kumar had elaborate discussion about the role of SVEEP with senior officers of various departments of the State government and of various corporate establishments like NALCO, SAIL, OMC, IOCL, MCL and State Bank of India.
For wide spread awareness, the CEO Mr.Kumar underlined the choice of instruments like video spots in cinema halls, radio jingles, video ads on the use of EVMs with VVPATS and banners along with posters in railway stations, setting up of hoardings by the Information and Public Relations Department of the State government in public and crowded places, buses, awareness messages on telephone bills, milk packets etc.
Those who participated in the deliberations included Additional CEO Abhay Kumar Nayak, Information & Public Relations Director Laxmidhar Mohanty, Additional Director I&PR, Niranjan Sethi and senior officers of the departments and Corporate Sector.
