eChallan Launched


In a bid to provide a safe and transparent transport administration to the general public, State Government today launched “e-Challan” for enhancing efficiency and transparency in the Transport Sector.


Minister Commerce and Transport Nrushingha Charan Sahu launched the innovative program, which will immensely help the people for a hassle free movement.
APC Gagan Kumar Dhal, Principal Secretary G Srinivas, HDFC Bank Regional Head Debasish Senapati and other graced the occasion.
Implementing Authorities, RTO Bhubaneswar I Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, RTO Bhubaneswar II Sanjay Kumar Behera, RTO Cuttack Dipti Ranjan Patra were also present.
The scheme will also keep a tab on the offending vehicles and drivers, said Sanjeeb Kumar Panda, Transport Commissioner.
Transport Commissioner, Mr.Panda, a tech savvy Top Cop said the initiative is a way forward and outreach to the common citizens in consistent with the commitment of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik enabling delivery of citizen centric services through Technology, Transparency and Team Work (3Ts model).
The scheme provides for facility to pay taxes, fees, fines through digital mode, the mobile e-challan device will generate the VCR on the spot, eliminates generation of manual challans, record the history of the offenders in the system, provision of higher fines for repeated offenders as per Rule among other things.
The new system aims to provide a solution for the current challenges which the Transport Department is facing with respect to tracking the challan records, payments, reports, etc. by leveraging latest technologies which are easy to use, adapt and implement at the ground level, the release said.

The Odisha Motor Vehicle Department has signed a MoU with HDFC Bank for e-Collection of motor vehicle related revenues and the Bank has installed 162 PoS machines in the offices of State Transport Authority, Regional Transport Offices throughout the State.
