Maoists Raise Tiger Fear

With Maoists losing grounds, they are trying hard to save their position by fostering Tiger attack fear psychosis among the villagers in Angul District, which has turned out to be an affected District by Left Wing Extremists (LWE)s.

Of late Satkosia Tiger Reserve Forests has been a major hide out for the Maoists and now with the State Government releasing tigers in the deep forest, they are left in a state of worry.

While Tribal boys and girls are not inclined to join Maoist Cadre, Ultras from Chhattisgarh are infiltrating to Odisha for scaling up activities.

Maoists from Chhattisgarh are infiltrating to Odisha through the Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Angul Route turning the areas as Red Corridor and taking safe resort in Satkosia Jungles.

With Security Forces taking up major offensive against these Ultras, their morale is very low as more and more Maoists are either arrested and in fear they are surrendering to the State Police.

Official record shows that 37 Maoists were arrested by June 2018, which has demoralized the Ultras.

And after release of a Royal Bengal Tiger from Kanha, it has multiplied their woes as they fear that they will not be able to move safely inside the Jungles.

Cadres from Chhattisgarh are not familiar with the territories of Core Area and Buffer zones of Satkosia Tiger Reserve.

While Tiger only moves in Core Area, Maoists have their den in the Core Areas of Tiger Reserve.

So conflict between the worried villagers and Forest Officials has provided the Ultras ample scope to incite the innocent villagers with their hyperactive over ground organizations to oppose relocation of Tigers.

State Government has planned to relocate six Royal Bengal Tigers(RBT) in Satkosia Tiger Reserve.

In fact, Intelligence Inputs reveal that LWE Cadres are allegedly inciting people that tiger will infiltrate their villages and provoking them to oppose relocation of a RBT in Satkosia Tiger Reserve brought from Kanha.

Another Tigress brought from Bandhavgarh is inside the enclosure, which will be released in wild soon after looking at the behavior of the Tiger.

While the Tiger is moving in the Core Area, which is a Sterile Zone and people do not visit those areas, the over ground organizations of Maoists are trying to exploit the situation as innocent people are incited under the alibi of presence of Tiger.

Interestingly, experts say that Tiger will not enter the village like Leopard as the Beast only remains in his/her territory.

A tigress is there inside Satkosia but never came out of the Core Area, senior Forest Officials pointed out.

Minister Forest & Environment Bijayashree Routray has appealed the people time and again not to get panicked over the reallocation of tigers.

However, the Left Wing Extremists are fanning fear among the villagers and inciting them to oppose relocation of Tigers in the Satkosia Tiger Reserve, so that they will move freely and in the process will turn the sterile zone their safest hideout,
the Top Cops engaged in anti-Maoist Operations pointed out.
