Padhi Urges For Innovation

Chief Secretary, Aditya Prasad Padhi has urged the IITians to innovate new things and excel in that field.

Mr.Padhi, while inaugurating the celebration of Tenth Foundation Day of Indian Institute of Technology ( IIT), Bhubaneswar addressed the students of IIT Bhubaneswar.
Chief Secretary Mr.Padhi  said, “present era is not the time of learning just from the books. Today one has to innovate something new and excel in that field”.
Mr.Padhi added, “We have to cultivate digital data and adopt new technology for positioning India as a technology destination”.
Mr.Padhi applauded the endeavor that IIT officials have put in during last years in putting up world-class infrastructure and setting up benchmarks in teaching and learning.
Director IIT, R V Raja Kumar presenting the activities of IIT said that the intake capacity of IIT, Bhubaneswar crossed 1600 during last two years and very soon it would reach 3000.
Prof.Kumar said the placement of the pass-outs has crossed 95 Percent.
IIT, Bhubaneswar has already set up a world class Incubation Center and a State of art Start up Center.
The institute has also started a Coastal Observatory at Lodigaon of Berhampur to study the sea behavior of the Bay of Bengal.

Prof Kumar added, “ the Institute has launched the high level research activities in the fields of clean energy, rural road infrastructure, virtual & augmented reality, foreign seek, space management and climate change etc.
C.Udaya Bhaskara Reddy,  Director for Policy Studies joining the celebration as Guest of Honor delivered the foundation day lecturer on National Security and Indian Young Citizen.

He talked about what citizens could contribute towards national security and what role nation’s security forces could do in ensuring the wellbeing of the populace by citing historical examples.   .
 On this occasion Chief Secretary Mr.Padhi felicitated faculty, staff members and students with excellence awards in various field like Teaching, Services, Sports, Athletics, Dance, Song, Art, Photography etc. 

Prof V.R. Pedireddi presented the votes of thanks and Registrar IIT Debraj Rout coordinated the celebration. 
A science exhibition with more than 100 exhibits was organized in the campus.
The campus was opened from 11.30 AM to 5.30 PM for the students from various schools and junior colleges.
More than 1000 students from various schools and colleges visited the exhibition and interacted with the faculties and students of IIT.
It was followed by Kathak Dance of the noted artist Sushmita Banerjee of SPIC MACAY and cultural programmes performed by students of IIT.
