Industry Infra On IIS

Detailed Information on Odisha’s Industrial Parks, Estates, Infrastructure and Connectivity details on real time basis soon will be available at the click of the mouse, thanks to Industrial Information System (IIS) mooted by Government of India.

Accordingly, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has informed the State Government of the proposed launching of IIS and urged for their participation.

Guruprasad Mohapatra, Secretary DPIIT has brought to the attention of the Odisha Government in this regard.

Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary Industry and MSME, is in touch with Ministry of Commerce and Industry, which is coordinating the entire efforts.

Odisha Government will be sharing Real Time Information in the IIS, which will help those global Corporations, eyeing for the State to invest in a big way, opine, experts.

In fact the Union Government’s  announcement to upgrade Industrial Infrastructure and provide Information on ranking of Industrial Parks will help the State, Country as well as both domestic and International Investors.

Odisha being one of the most attractive states so far investment is concerned, the State Government has decided to do the same as Government of India has also requested the State Administration to join in the Industrial Information system (IIS).

While there are 3376 Industrial Parks, Estates and Areas in the Country covering 4.76 Lakh Hectares, Odisha is having 114 Industrial Parks so far integrated till date. All details will be uploaded in IIS.

IIS will ensure that the data is regularly updated on a real time basis and the process is automated, standard guidelines have already been shared with the State.

Recently, Minister Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman announced that a scheme will be implemented in States for Industrial Cluster Upgradation of common infrastructure facilities and connectivity.

Information related to Land Bank for promoting new Investments would be available on IIS GIS Mapping.

A number of Global Corporations are envisaging lot of interest in Odisha and they are eyeing for Manufacturing Hub.

And IIS will provide an easy access to the latest information source to the Global Investors.

In fact a number of Global Investors are looking for an alternate destination to China for setting up of manufacturing hub and such facilities will attract those investors, feel experts.

Upgrading existing industrial infrastructure, providing information on Industrial Parks and mapping on GIS will help the investors in identification of locations.

This will also promote competitiveness among the States by ranking Industrial Estates and Parks, which will pave the way for standardisation of approach towards Industrial Ecosystem Creation, said a senior official in the Department of Industry.
