State Government has asked the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) Convener to ask All Banks and Business Correspondents attached to Banks to provide Door Step Delivery Service to Senior citizens and differently Abled Persons.

Ashok Kumar Meena, Principal Secretary Finance has discussed the issue with the senior officials and asked the officials to take up the matter with SLBC.

Accordingly Director Institutional Finance has issued clear cut instructions to the Convener SLBC to provide banking facilities to Senior citizens and Differently Abled Persons at their door steps.

With the outbreak of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic, Senior Citizens are facing hardship of withdrawal of cash. While they are advised to stay at home, All Banks and Business Correspondents attached to Banks are needed to provide them basic banking facilities to them.

While the action of the Manager of the Bargaon branch of the Utkal Grameen Bank (UGB), Ajit Kumar Pradhan demanded presence of a centenarian Labhe Baghel of Nuapada District at the Bank and brought embarrassment for the State
Administration, Department of Finance has reminded the Bankers about the existing Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Guidelines in this regard.

Mr.Pradhan was suspended by the UGB Authorities; however the issue generated criticism for the callous Bankers.

RBI has issued Guidelines that all Banks and Business Correspondents attached to Base Bank Branches are needed to be instructed by Controlling Heads for providing basic banking facilities to Senior Citizens and Differently Abled Persons at their door step during COVID-19 Pandemic on working days.

No Service Charge shall be imposed for such financial transactions at the door steps of Senior Citizens and Differently Abled Persons.
