Token Rent From KVs

State Government has decided to collect a token amount of Rs.1 towards Annual Ground Rent and Cess from the Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.

Additional Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Avaya Kumar Nayak has informed all the District Collectors in this regard.

While the Government in 2015 had taken the decision that the lease of Government land shall be sanctioned in favour of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti will be provided free of premium and free of incidental charges, it will be subject to payment of a token amount of Re.1 per annum towards annual ground rent and cess.

However, the cases where Government land has already been settled by competent authorities in favour of any of these two organizations -- where lease deeds for transfer of land have been executed -- shall not be re-opened

Notably, the Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas, in whose favour land has been settled prior to coming into force of the Government Order of 11 February, 2015 have requested to waive out the annual ground rent and cess as well as the arrear dues with interest to keep it at par with the institutions in favour of which land is leased out as per the aforesaid guideline.

Keeping the above in view, Government after careful consideration and in partial modification to the above G.0 No. 4732/R&DM dated, 11.02.2015, have been pleased to decide that the annual ground rent and cess shall be re-fixed at a nominal rate of Rs.1 per annum in favour of all Kendriya Vidyalayas & Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas whose rent and cess were fixed prior to coming into force of this Department G.O No.4732 dated 11.02.2015, said the sources.

The arrear annual ground rent & cess along with interest thereof for all Kendriya Vidyalayas & Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas which have not paid such dues till dale shall be waived, they added.

“The Kendriya Vidyalayas & Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, which have already paid the Government dues shall have no claim to refund the dues and such cases shall not be reopened,” said Mr.Nayak.
