Boost For Petro Projects

In order to boost investment in this Eastern State, Odisha Government has decided to Fast Track the progress all Petroleum Projects and facilitate the Central Public Sector Undertakings (PSU), which are taking up these Mega Projects.

Accordingly, Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary Industries & MSME recently chaired a Meeting to sort out issues, which are coming as hurdles in implementing the massive projects in Odisha.

Mr.Sharma reviewed progress of Mega Pipeline Project and City Gas Distribution Network  being taken up by Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL).

With Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister Petroleum and Natural Gas held a high-level meeting with Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy and Secretary to Chief Minister VK Pandian along with other senior officials, it was decided to Fast Track the Petro Projects, which are coming up with huge investments in the State.

GAIL is implementing Jagadishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline Project.

This is a major milestone towards providing green fuel to eastern part of the country. The work for balance portion is going on in full swing and is scheduled to be completed by December 2021 in a phased manner.

In Odisha, the Mega Pipeline Project is passing through 770 KM and covering 13 Forest Divisions of the State and some issues are needed to be sorted out at State Forest Headquarters Level.

Mr.Sharma asked Special Secretary Forest and Environment to speed up the matter and sort out the issues in a timebound manner, said sources.

Issues like Tree Valuation, Land Acquisition and payment of compensation to the villagers in several districts were discussed at length and District Collectors were impressed upon to sort out.

In fact Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is talking to District Collectors in this regard and they are also taking up matter with local villagers and Tehsildars, said sources.

District Collectors of Sundargarh , Jharsuguda and Angul were asked to act proactively and facilitate the investment being done by GAIL, said sources.

At some places, villagers are demanding abnormal rate of compensation for their lands, which are beyond permissible rates, officials say.

GAIL Authorities are agreeing to permissible rates and are ready to extend all out support in this regard, however some of the villagers are adamant.

Convincing the villagers about criticality of the massive project is needed to be taken up by the District Administration of all these districts, said an officer.

Similarly, issues pertaining to City Gas Distribution Network in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was deliberated at length with the senior officials and officials of the District Administrations of Cuttack, Khordha and City Authorities.

Mega CNG Stations will be set up in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for implementing the Project, 24X7 movement of vehicles is needed in the Twin City.

With Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic, there are restrictions on movement of vehicles, however GAIL authorities impressed upon the State Government about its requirement, said sources.
