SETU For Swabhiman

Development Commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Wednesday reviewed 'Socio-Economic Transformation and Upliftment' (SETU) scheme in Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district.

Matters relating to welfare of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe people, integrated education projects, livelihood activities, empowerment of Self Help Groups, road connectivity, development of power distribution infrastructure and construction of bridge were discussed at the high level meeting, officials said.

The Development Commissioner directed to expedite different projects in a time bound manner, they said.

The release said that a meeting of senior officials was held under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment Department Saurabh

Dr.Garg to review various activities including the supply of quality classified seeds, fertilizers and other inputs for the ensuing Kharif season.

The Nodal officers in charge of districts were directed to get in touch with grass root agriculture officials regularly and solve the issues faced by farmers, it added.

The State Government on Wednesday rubbished speculations about possible extension of weekend shutdown beyond Saturday & Sunday in 11 districts of the State.

An official release here said that people need not resort to panic buying of essential commodities and pay no heed to such rumors.

As many as 51 migrant workers stranded in different districts of the State (Keonjhar-19, Angul-18, Mayurbhanj-12 and balasore-2) have returned safely to their native States by Bus.

All the expenditure has been borne by State Government, it said.

The release said nearly 1273 Odia people returned to State on Wednesday taking the number of such people to  5,15,900 so far.

As many as 16,813 Temporary Medical Centres/Camps have been readied in 6798 Gram Panchayats of the State with 7,62,091  beds to provide COVID-19 health services in rural areas.

A total 10 cases have been registered by the Police in the state for violation of different regulations and guidelines related to COVID-19 while 29 persons have been arrested by police for different violations.
