Odisha Crosses 3K Mark

Odisha crossed 3000 Mark on COVID-19 Positive cases on 9 June, which first reported case on 15 March.

The total number of Novel Corona Virus cases jumped to 3,140 in Odisha as many as 146 more people tested Positive including Four Physicians of AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
 
Apart from Doctors of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, the fresh 146 cases also include 49 NDRF Jawans and 12 Firemen from Odisha Fire Service.

They tested positive to the virus after returning to the state from West Bengal. All of them had gone to neighboring state to conduct rescue and restoration operations due to Super Cyclone Amphan.

AIIMS, Bhubaneswar spokesperson said: “Four of our doctors who were staying in home quarantine had been tested positive to COVID-19. Earlier, one doctor had also tested positive to the virus.”

With this, the state’s total active cases now stands at 996 while the number of recoveries also mounted to 2,133 which is about 67.9 per cent of the total cases in Odisha, the official said adding that nine people have so far died of the disease. However, two other COVID patients died due to some other reason, he pointed out.

The new cases were detected in 17 districts: Khurda (19), Ganjam (18), Jagatsinghpur (8), Sundergarh and Balasore (7 each), Deogarh (5), Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi (three each), Cuttack, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Kendrapara (2 each) and one each from Malkangiri, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Bolangir.

Of the 140 recovered persons, 24 are from Cuttack, 22 from Ganjam, 21 from Nuapada, 11 from Jajpur, 11 from Khurda, 11 from Jagatsinghpur, 8 from Sundargarh, 7 each from Bolangir and Bhadrak, 5 from Dhenkanal, 3 each from Bargarh, Kendrapara and Sambalpur, and 2 each from Balasore and Puri.
