Power Restoration Picks Up


State Government has stepped up restoration of power supply in the Amphan affected Districts on top priority basis.

While around 34 Lakh consumers were affected by the extremely severe cyclone are being provided electricity supply with 371 Gangs of work men are deployed in the affected zones.

Minister Energy, Dibya Shankar Mishra conducted Video Conference on 16 May and asked the officials to proactively organize restoration plan.

Bishnupada Sethi, Principal Secretary Energy coordinated the entire efforts for taking up restoration on war footing basis.

Accordingly 371 gangs, each gang comprising 10 work-men, were prepositioned at strategic locations of the DISCOMs for restoration work.

Materials were mobilized to the strategic location. In NESCO area (poles 2000, Insulators 4100, Conductor/ cable 120KM, DTs 60 ) were prepositioned.

Tree branches along the High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) lines have been trimmed for about 1050 Kilometer.

Citizens awareness was created on safety through electronic media campaigns .

Control rooms were operated at each DISCOM Head offices along with a Central Centre room at OPTCL.

Around 115 nos. of 33 KV feeders which supply power to 34 lakh number of consumers were affected (SOUTHCO -1.63 lakh, NESCO -15 lakh and CESU -17 lakh area.

By 5 PM on 20 May, all 33 KV & 11 KV feeder and DTs were restored in SOUTHCO (Ganjam district). Supply to almost all consumers in SOUTHCO has been restored.

Power Supply to all division areas under CESU area except Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada Nimapada, Marshaghai and Paradip division has been restored.

The District Head Quarters and Block Head Quarters of the above area will be restored by tonight, officials say. By next day evening balance areas of CESU will be restored.

In NESCO area, in Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur District headquarters  power supply will be restored tonight.

In other areas, work will start tomorrow, said sources. For Bhadrak Covid Hospital, power was restored and Balasore COVID Hospital will get power by tonight, officials say.

Damages in NESCO areas affected in 83 Kilometers of 33 KV line, 396 KMs 11KV line and 855 Kms of LT lines and 162 No of DTs.

After completion of detailed survey of lines tomorrow, exact damages and restoration plan for balance areas will be estimated, officials say.
