Exclusive Zone For Mining


State Government will have to carve out Exclusive Mining Zone (EMZ) for Mining Operations as such operations will not be taken up in ecologically sensitive zones.

With the State Government has been asked to implement National Mineral Policy-2019, such stipulations will come up with the implementation process.

Earlier such type of stipulations was not there for taking up Mining Operations.

In fact Mining Operations in future is going to be tough as exploitation of mineral resources shall not be taken up in ecologically fragile environment.

While EMZ will be carved out by the State Government, prior In Principle statutory clearances demarcated for Mineralized Zones will be required.

Such In Principal Statutory Clearances are required as to avoid conflict of interest and to curtail delay in commencement of Mining Operations, officials say.

As per National Mineral Policy, prevention and mitigation of adverse environmental effects due to mining will be taken care of in accordance with latest scientific norms and modern afforestation practices.

These practices will form the integral part of Mining Development Strategy in every instance, said a senior official.

“All Mining Operations shall be undertaken within the parameters of a Comprehensive Sustainable Development Framework, which will ensure that environmental, economic and social considerations are integrated effectively in all decisions on mines and mineral aspects”, said he.
