Bhabani Patnaik No More

Eminent Freedom fighter Bhabani Charan Pattanaik passed away this evening in Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar. Sri Pattanaik completed 98 years of successful life on 11 May. 

He was born on 11 May 1922 at Gada Andhia of Nimapara in Puri district. While reading in school he took part in quit India movement in 1942 and was put behind bar.

He was president of State Freedom Fighter Samiti founded by Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab. At the time of death he was also president of Kalinga Foundation Trust founded by his mentor Biju Pattanaik.

Bhabani babu was elected to Rajya Sabha for three times. During his active political carrier he was general secretary of Pradesh Congress Committee and also head of Seva Dal for several years. He was also associated with several social institutions.

He has pledged to donate his body and organ after death to SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Chief Minister Naveen Pattanaik, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, Pradesh Congress Committee President Niranjan Pattanaik, eminent Gandhian thinker Prahallad Kumar Sinha, Social Activist Pramila Swain, Jagadananda and many other dignitaries condoled the death of Bhabani babu.
