23 Fresh Corona Cases

Odisha has reported 23 fresh cases and recovery of 31 people from COVID Hospital on 12 May.

Though the number of COVID cases increased to 437 in the state with fresh cases, the number of active cases however, came down to 319 from 349, an official said.

All the recovered persons come from Jajpur district.

Meanwhile, the State Government decided to increase the bed capacity of COVID Care Centres as part of its strategy to combat COVID-19.

As many as 46 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Odisha in last 24 hours. With 23 new cases detected today, the total number of cases has increased to 437. Out of the new cases, 15 were reported from Balasore, 3 each from Ganjam & Jajpur and 1 each from Puri and Boudh.

A total of 4579 RT-PCR tests were conducted in Odisha on Monday. Out of 68057 cumulative tests, the number of active cases stand at 347.

Meanwhile, ICMR has granted COVID-19 test in IMS and SUM Hospital. It is the second private hospital in the State to be chosen as a testing centre for Coronavirus after Apollo Hospital.

The tests would be conducted in the Molecular RNA Virology Laboratory of the institute the lab can conduct 300 tests per day.

Ganjam District Collector Vijay Amrita Kulange said there was no community transmission of COVID even as the district has so far reported 158 cases in a span of 10 days.

“There is no sign of community transmission in the region and there is no need for people to panic
”, he said.
