Amit Khare Secretary, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) has advised the State Government to utilize the infrastructure of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV)s for setting up temporary camps for isolation or medical facility for Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) patients.

In the backdrop of the COVID-19 outbreak, temporary medical camps may be required in various parts of the country, said Mr.Khare in his advice to the State Government.

He said that Infrastructure available in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, which are residential schools functioning under MHRD could be utilised for setting up of Temporary camps for isolation camps or medical facility

He said in the country JNVs are functional in 645 districts and out of which 75 JNVs are functioning in temporary campuses, therefore the infrastructure available in form of hostels mess facility may be limited

Some of the JNVs also have students residing in the hostels as they could not move out due to disruption of interstate bus and rail services, said he.

So the facility available in 570 JNVs functioning from their families permanent buildings and which do not have any resident students at present could be utilised for the purpose of setting up temporary medical facility and quarantine camps for isolation, said Mr.Khare.

He advised that the suitability of the availability infrastructure could be assessed by concerned District Magistrates who is also Head of the Vidyalaya Committees

In the meantime, Commissioner Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has also issued direction to Principals concerned to extend all cooperation to the District Administration in this regard, said official sources.
