IMD Warns Lightning

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thundershower and lightning in several parts of the state till 24 March.

IMD also issued Yellow Warning (thunderstorm, lightning and gusty surface wind) for several districts during the period.
According to a bulletin issued by it,   light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of interior Odisha, South Coastal Odisha and a few places over the Districts of North Coastal Odisha between 19-20 March 19.
Thunderstorm accompanied with hail, lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Kandhamal and Ganjam, the IMD said.
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching 30-40 KMP is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Khurdha and Puri, it said.
Between March 20 and 21, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of south Odisha and north coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of north interior Odisha.
Sounding a yellow warning it said, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Puri, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Kandhamal and Kalahandi.
On March 21 and 22, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj and at a few places over the rest districts.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Khurdha and Puri, the IMD forecast.
From 8.30 am on March 22 till 8.30 am on March 23 light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of south coastal Odisha, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Boudh. And, dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts Of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur.
From 8.30 am on March 23 till 8.30 am on March 24, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada. Besides, dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
Thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, the bulletin said
