Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) outbreak has plunged communities across the globe into a sea of concern. Death toll across the world has crossed thousands and the epidemic is still at large.

Under this backdrop, Odisha Government has declared COVID-19 as a “Disaster” and taking cue Department of Industries and MSME organized an awareness campaign here on 13 March.

Principal Secretary Industries, Hemant Sharma addressed the Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in the Conference Hall at Kharaveal Bhawan.

Mr.Sharma proactively has taken steps to generate awareness among the stakeholders of the Industry Sector.

Mr.Sharma said a Public Health situation of this scale requires concerted and whole hearted approach in order to prevent further importation of cases.

Principal Secretary Industries and MSME advised not to get panic and listen to rumors spread by vested interest groups.

Major Industries, Corporate Sector, Leading Entrepreneurs, Officers and others attended the Awareness Meet.

Director Health Services BK Mahapatra said there is nothing to be get panicked about COVID-19, but awareness and preparedness is needed to face the Virus.

Dr.Mahapatra advised for taking precautions so that COVID-19 can be contained and he advised to generate awareness among the workers serving in the Industries.

He said the State Government has notified COVID-19 as ‘Disaster’ and has mobilized efforts for control and containment of the disease.

Dr.Mahapatra said Schools, Colleges, Swimming Pools, Cinema Halls are asked to close down till 31 March.

All meetings, conferences organized by the State Government has been stopped and major socialization efforts are being curbed.

MSME Additional Secretary Udaya Narayan Das also spoke at length on the issue and urged the Entrepreneurs to generate awareness among the workers, so that they will not be victim of COVID-19.

Joint Secretary Industries Subhendu Kumar Nayak dwelt on the issues, while addressing the Industrialists.

Both Mr.Das and Mr.Nayak have been notified as Nodal Officers of MSME and Industries Departments for COVID Control Initiatives.

Principal Secretary Mr.Sharma has urged Industrialists and Entrepreneurs to work in tandem with the State Government while fighting the ‘Disaster’.
