CP Extends COVID Support

Wasting no time in enforcing the Corona Regulations-2020 under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 issued by the State Government, the Twin City Police Commissionerate has swung into action by announcing various restrictions invoking its magisterial power.

As it has been entrusted with the responsibility of enforcing the Act, Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi has issued directives in this regard to DCPs, ACPs, In-charges of Police Stations and PCR employees.

In a statement today, Dr.Sarangi has offered police assistance to Health Department in tracing, contacting, taking suspected Coronavirus affected persons to hospitals and in quarantining.

He further extended support to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and Cuttack Municipal Corporation in creating facility for infected patients or in prohibiting outsiders from entering the corporation areas.

Stating that social isolation is the prime way of prevention of the spreading of the deadly coronavirus, the Police Commissioner has urged people to stay indoor maximum times and avoid going out if not so necessary. It’s a temporary problem, and the situation would be normalized if we remained alert for 10-15 days, he said.

“Being a student of Psychology, I know that we visit sick people and touch them to reassure them that they would be alright soon. But, we have to maintain safe distance while sympathizing with sick persons,” said Dr. Sarangi.
