Cold Wave Sweeps State


Cold Wave continued to sweep across  the State.

And both Sonepur and Phulbani turning out to be the coldest places recording 6 degree Celsius on 13 January.

The mercury plummeted below the 10 Degree Celsius mark in at least 11 places in the State, the IMD said.

Intense cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in most parts of the state, particularly Sonepur, Phulbani, Angul, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh and Balangir districts in the next 24 hours, it said.

No large change is likely to take place in minimum temperature (night temperature) in next two days and there will be gradual rise by 2 to 4 degree Celsius thereafter over the dist of Odisha, it said.


Sonepur and Phulbani were closely followed by Angul where the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.6 degree Celsius.


While Titlagarh recorded a minimum temperature of 7.1 degree Celsius, at Daringibadi it was 7.5 degree, Koraput (9 degree), Bhawanipatna (8.5), Talcher (9.7), Sambalpur (9.6), Keonjhar (9.1), Jharsuguda (9.4) and Angul (6.6).

Cuttack city recorded 10.5 degree Celsius while in Capital City  the mercury stood at 11.4. 

Similipal is also experiencing biting cold wave.
