Union Civil Aviation Secretary Pradeep Singh Kharola had taken up the matter with major airlines as Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri asked  the Ministry officials to arrange such a conclave after getting a letter from Odisha Chief
Minister Naveen Patnaik, who sought operation of more international flights from the state.

Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has taken an approach of ensuring optimum connectivity in each and every state, and similar steps are being taken for Odisha, said sources MoCA.
Usha Padhee, Joint Secretary MoCA is making all out efforts to invite as many as International Flight Operators to the State.
Sources said, earlier Chief Minister Mr.Patnaik wrote a letter to the Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and invited him as well as the CEOs of major airlines for an exposure trip to Odisha.
“I would like to invite you personally to visit the state of Odisha along with officers of Civil Aviation Ministry and the CEOs of major airlines,” Patnaik wrote to Puri.
“Looking forward to hosting you and your team in Bhubaneswar soon,” he added.
In his letter, Mr.Patnaik had also mentioned that the state would also consider incentives in the form of Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for the airline operations.
State Government has earlier provided incentive to Air Asia and is inclined for similar sops.
Chief Minister Mr.Patnaik will make more fresh announcements in the CEO Meet, which is expected to deliberate on UDAN Domestic and UDAN International Operations.
MoCA is promoting UDAN Operations and Joint Secretary Ms.Padhee is coordinating the entire operations.
Odisha is getting ready for more airports like Jeypore and Rourkela for which UDAN Operations will be successful for these airports.
Airports Authority of India (AAI), which took up infrastructure development and operations of Jharsuguda Airport will be helping the State in preparing smooth passage for both Jeypore and Rourkela airstrips, officials say.
