DGP Visits Maoist Zone


BK Sharma, Director General of Police (DGP) has urged the Police Men to be polite and suave while handling people visiting Police Stations.


Mr.Sharma on his first field visit after he took over as DGP chose to move to a Maoist Zone, which is the Corridor of the Left Wing Extremist (LWE) Guerrilla.
Teaching a lesson or two on “Mo Sarkar” Initiative launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, DGP  Mr.Sharma harped on the fact that gone are those days, when Police was inducing fear among the people in Colonial Rule.
Now the People are the Masters and they are to be treated with respect, pointed out DGP.
And he warned that there will be ‘Zero Tolerance’ to rude behavior and corruption, which is brining shame to the Police Force.
Mr.Sharma asked to change their perception and treat the people with all gentleness and serving mentality.
Harping on 5T, DGP said there is a need for teamwork and bringing in transparency in the system. He harped on team work and urged them to work in a time bound manner.
Launching Participatory Policing, Mr.Sharma talked to senior citizens of Bargarh District and urged them to extend their support for Participatory Protection Drive.
DGP also reviewed the security arrangements for the upcoming Bijepur by-poll scheduled to be held on October 21.
A high-level meeting was held today at the District Police Headquarters here under the chairmanship of DGP Mr.Sharma, where R P Koche, ADG Law and Order, Himanshu Kumar Lal, DIG, Northern Range, SP Bargarh, Padmini Sahoo and other senior Top Cops were present.
Addressing Media after the Review Meeting, the DGP informed that the by-polls in Bijepur will be conducted in an impartial and fair manner, as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
DGP said that the Odisha Police is reviewing the suggestion of Bargarh SP for the deployment of 30 platoons of armed police forces.
 “Apart from OSAP personnel, CRPF, SS Battalion, SOG and DVF personnel will be pressed in during the by-election. Besides, CCTV cameras will be installed at 15 sensitive spots,” DGP Mr.Sharma said.
In order to ensure smooth conduct of Bijepur bypoll, preventive arrest of anti-socials and absconders are being made, the DGP further informed Media.
