Odisha Gets Tech Centres

Union Government in Ministry of MSME is extending major financial support for setting up of Technology Centres and Clusters for development of Micro, Small and Village Industries in Odisha.

Odisha has been sanctioned three Technology Extension Centres with an investment of Rs.60 Crores for enhancing the outreach of technology and skilled manpower required for the MSME Sector.

Secondly MSME Ministry has also sanctioned 34 Clusters for various products to promote traditional industries in the State.
 
Under both the programs, State will be getting an investment of over Rs.120 Crore from the Ministry of MSME.
 
Arun Kumar Panda, Union Secretary MSME Ministry has been instrumental for the massive support for the State.
 
Dr.Panda was pursuing the proposals sent by Government of Odisha and these Centres will come up in Berhampur, Bhawanipatna and Keonjhar.
 
Piyush Srivastava, Additional Development Commissioner MSME has informed the State Government in this regard.
 
Mr.Srivastava has urged the State Government to operationalize the Centres during 2019-20 in a time bound manner.
 
In fact, Odisha is in the priority list of the MSME Ministry with the presence of Minister of State, MSME Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Union Secretary Arun Kumar Panda.
 
MSME Ministry is following up the announcement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for establishment of Technology Centres and Extensions Centres in the country for providing State of the Art Technology to the States.
 
Government of India is setting up 20 Technology Centres and 100 Extension Centres with an estimated cost of Rs.6000 Crore.
 
While the Competent Authority has approved 20 Centres for the country, Odisha has got 03 Centres, which will significantly enhance the outreach of technology needed for MSME Sector.
 
Similarly these Centres will provide scope for skill development and as all of us known MSME sector is dearth of skilled manpower.

Looking at the requirement, Prime Minister Mr.Modi harped on setting up of Technology Extension Centres in the country.
 
MSME Technology Centres will be given support from Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), which is functioning in Bhubaneswar.

In order to promote traditional industries and create employment in rural areas MSME Ministry has sanctioned 34 Clusters in the State.
 
On an average each Cluster will come up with a cost of Rs.2 Crore, so Odisha will get an investment of over Rs.60 Crore in this regard.
 
These Clusters are sanctioned under the Scheme of Fund for Generation of Traditional Industries (SFURTI).
 
Clusters will be set up in Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrakh, Puri, Cuttack, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Sundargarh districts.
 
Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under MSME Ministry will be coordinating these Clusters, which will promote traditional industries like Bell Metal, Handicraft, Saal Leaf and Plate, Agarbatti, Coir, Handloom, Bee Wax, Bamboo Craft Jute Craft, Mahua etc.
