Pradhan Soft On Patnaik

Of late senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan seems taking soft attitude toward BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik.

Union Petroleum & Steel Minister on 6 September complimented Odisha Government for agreeing to provide 10 acres of land for establishment of a ‘Paika Bidroha’ memorial at Barunei foothills.

Union Minister Mr.Pradhan complimented Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for allotting the land for the Memorial.

“The preparations for construction of the memorial has taken a ‘step forward’ and I am  proud to be an Odia,” Mr.Pradhan said.

The Union Minister said that the Centre had allocated special provision in the Union Budget to commemorate 200 years of Paika Rebellion, the first organized armed rebellion against the East India Company’s rule in the country.

Mr.Pradhan also said the memorial will act as an inspiration for youths of Odisha and the country. He sought the cooperation of all stakeholders for the setting up of the ‘Paika Bidroha’ memorial which will be a symbol of heroism and pride of Odia.

Earlier, Mr.Pradhan had requested Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to expedite the process of land allotment for the memorial. The Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma had also requested for nearly 50 acres to be made available for the construction of the memorial on Barunei foothills.

The Union Government has commemorated 200 years of Paika rebellion with a series of events in Delhi and abroad and released commemorative stamp and coin.

The Minister had personally requested the Chief Minister during a “Smriti Sabha” held to pay homage to late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Bhubaneswar for expediting land allotment at the spot where the battle after the revolt took place.
He had said that the memorial will honour the heroes of the rebellion as well as other freedom fighters from Odisha.
A unique museum and audio-visual son et lumière show depicting the life and times of Buxi Jagabandhu and Paika rebellion are proposed to be the attractions of the memorial, Mr.Pradhan said.
