NHM Extends CI Support

Living with a fear of not be able to listen for life long, two fortunate girls were taken care by National Health Mission(NHM), thanks to humanitarian approach of Mission Director NHM Shalini Pandit.

Two children namely Kousalya Jani (4 yrs) Sandhyarani Nayak (5 yrs) of Koraput district will now able to hear after their successful Cochlear Implantation (CI)  at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

Both the children were identified under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) and under therapeutic treatment at District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC), Koraput and they  were  referred to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar for CI. 

The surgery cost of around Rs.5.2 lakhs per child has been met out of NHM fund placed to AIIMS and under ADIP scheme.

Further follow up and required speech therapy will be imparted by DEIC, Koraput for the rehabilitation of these children, said an official.
