100 CR For Mo School

Mo School Abhiyan has become one of the largest alumni contribution programme in the country with project cost touching Rs.100 crore mark this September 2019.


This
unique initiative of Odisha Government is based on the philosophy of ‘Giving Back’ to support schools for an inclusive process of growth.

Executive Council of Mo School Abhiyan under the Chairpersonship of Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, IAS, APC and ACS School and Mass Education has sanctioned 1257 projects in 708 schools with a project cost of Rs.
6, 45, 30, 387.

With this approval of projects, the Mo School Abhiyan has
sanctioned a total of 1205 projects from 9950 schools in 308 Blocks of the State with a matching grant of Rs.67,09,22,856.

After initiation of this programme in the month of June 2018, the schools have reported 1,49,536 contributors and total contribution of Rs. 33,60,01428 from Alumni till August 2019. The Mo School Abhiyan project cost now touched to Rs 100,69, 24,284. 

Considering the request from large number of Alumni, the Executive Council of Mo School Abhiyan in its 11th Meeting on 30 August has agreed to
collaborate with Alumni groups in improving the 100 years and 50 years schools across the state.

A long-term plan for improving these set of schools will be undertaken in collaboration with Alumni Associations and Foundations/ CSR programmes.

B S Poonia State Project Director OSEPA and Member Secretary, Mo School Abhiyan also informed on the plan of Mo School Abhiyan to groom school children beyond school hours with alumni support those are keen to contribute their services in enhancing skills of school children in communities.
 
By leveraging the experience, success and influence of the alumni and its vast network to impart best practices in school education, this will ensure that a proper learning ecosystem is available beyond classrooms for achieving desired learning outcomes by children in schools.
 
Mo School Abhiyan will pilot this programme in 5000 villages this year before introducing this programme across the state during next summer holidays.
