AHRCC Gets Radiotherapy Unit

 
Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das on Friday laid foundation stone for construction of new Radiotherapy Unit at Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (AHRCC).


The new advanced integrated Radiotherapy Unit having modern equipments including one High Energy LINAC and one Low Energy LINAC Radiotherapy system, Conventional Simulator, Brachy Therapy Unit and Dosimetry equipments will be set up with technical support provided by Tata Trust through Odisha Cancer Care Foundation(OCCF) to meet the present demand and requirement of AHRCC.

The total project cost for setting up the new Radiotherapy Unit including the civil construction and procurement of equipments is around Rs.38 crore

While civil construction work assigned to Roads & Building Department is scheduled to be completed by 31st March 2020, the new equipments and instruments will be procured through Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited(OSMCL).

Later, an elaborate discussion was held in AHRCC’s Governing Body meeting held under the Chairmanship of Health and Family Welfare Minister for expansion and development of the leading cancer hospital of the Eastern India to ensure better health care facilities and deal with rising inflow of patients.

As per the discussion in the GB meeting, the 281-bed AHRCC will soon have additional 200 beds after completion of the ongoing construction of G+6 Floors on existing LINAC building. The building will also help in housing the CT, MRI, PET-CT machines ICU, Neutropenia and Paediatric wards.

Similarly, out of 11 quarters belonging to Industry, DTET and GA Department earmarked for expansion of AHRCC, six quarters have been handed over to the institute and the R&B Department is likely to start the demolition process.

The Tata Trust has been entrusted for preparation of the master plan for expansion of AHRCC which includes construction of a new surgical block with minimum 10 modular OTs, one Academic Block for Post Graduate Education, SR Hostel and a multi-utility centre.

The new pension scheme like the state government employees will be introduced soon for the employees of AHRCC on approval of the government
