Centre Asks Rail Support

Laying emphasis on running passenger trains in Haridaspur-Paradip rail line, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi Friday urged the Cabinet Committee’s Project Monitoring Group Joint Secretary Rajiv Agrawala to extend cooperation in this matter.


Agrawala, in his part, assured to take a call on the matter after discussing the issue with Railway Board.

Discussing the progress of the ongoing high value infra projects in the State at the review meeting of the Project Management Committee here today, State Project Management Cell Principal Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena informed that the work of the Rs.1000-crore Haridaspur-Paradip Rail Line project is in the final stage and it is likely to be operational by end of this year.

Jena further stated that land has been handed over to the Railways for the 112-Km long Khordha-Bolangir Rail Line, and land acquisition process has been expedited for the rest of the required land.

The committee also reviewed the progress of the doubling of the Banshapani-Jakhapua rail line and Koraput-Singapur, Rourkela-Jharsuguda rail line, Jarpada-Budhapank-Talcher rail line flyover, Bhadrak-Nirgundi, Kotavalsa-Korapur, Budhapanka-Salegaon, Vijayanagaram-Sambalpur, Talcher-Bimlagarh, Angul-Sukinda rail lines.

It also reviewed the progress of various ongoing highway projects in the State.

The meeting also deliberated on the progress of the mining projects of MCL’s Belpahar OCP, Kaniha OCP and Bhubaneswar OCP for which Rs 9897.87 crore is being invested. It also reviewed the Rs 3000 crore mining project undertaken by Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited.
