Odisha Government will go for the free distribution of sanitary napkins for adolescent girls in VI-XII Classes in all government and government aided schools in 314 blocks and Five Municipal Corporations under program KHUSI.

Minister Health & Family Welfare, Naba Kishore Das reviewed the Program under which each girls student will be proved 18 beltless sanitary napkins per month and target beneficiaries are 16,81,690 in 29,557 number of schools.

Pramod Kumar Meherda, Secretary Health & Family Welfare and Yamini Sarangi, MD Odisha State Medical Corporation were also present during Review Meeting held on 8 august.

First Quarter purchase order was issued on 18 January 2019 for 9,08,18,936 pieces of sanitary napkins.

The napkins have already been delivered at 319 designated storage points situated at block and municipal corporation level for distribution to schools.

For Second Quarter purchase order has already been issued for 9,16,32,546 nos of napkins.

As ascertained till date, in all the districts except Berhampur Municipal Corporation, Rourkela Municipal Corporation and Jagatsinghpur distribution from storage point to school has been started and in Subarnapur, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Jharsuguda and Kandhamal distribution to school point completed.

Against Second purchase order supplier has supplied 23Percent of supply in Bolangir, Bargarh, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Berhampur Municipality Corporation.

The total expenditure under this scheme till date is Rs.22.23 Crore.
