128 Cold Storage In State

Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment Minister Arun Sahoo has informed the State legislative Assembly that there are 128 cold storage for the benefits of both the farmers and consumers of Odisha.


The Minister in his replay to Lawmakers said that 48 cold storage are also functioning for the long-term preservation of fruit and vegetables.
Minister Mr.Sahoo informed the House that 22 cold storages out of the total 128 are run by the State Government while 106 cold storages are in private hands.
Approval was accorded for the construction of 28 private cold storages in the previous stint of the State Government (2014-19), the Minister said.
He said till date, 21 cold storages have been completed and are functional following which the storage capacity has been increased to 95600 metric ton (MT).
Construction of seven more private cold storages is underway, Minister Mr.Sahoo said.
The Minister apprised the House that 48 cold storages are functional now in the State  for long term preservation of fruits and vegetable and their total capacity is 2,27,880 metric ton (MT).
Vegetables like potato, carrot and chilly are preserved in these cold storages, he said and
