Naveen Trusts Bobby

Even though Pranab Prakash Das, nee Bobby was not taken in the Ministry when the BJD assumed the office for the fifth time in a row, the Law-Maker from Jajpur continues to enjoy trust of Chief Minister Naveen Pataik.

This is evident from the Governing Party’s preparation of the ensuing Patkura assembly segment where election has been termed as a “prestige” issue for Naveen.

According to party insiders, when Naveen decided to field Bed Prakash Agarwal’s widow Sabitra from Patkura, the BJD President immediately called up Bobby.

The young MLA was assigned the big responsibility of ensuing victory of the party candidate with a huge margin. Since then, Bobby has been camping in Patkura. He is making strategies and monitoring their implementation.

The party aimed that Sabitri’s victory margin should be above 30,000 votes even as the BJD candidate in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, has secured a thin lead of on only 6,000 votes from Patkura assembly segment.

With full confidence on Bobby, Naveen has left the field though he will hit the campaign trail towards end on July 17.

Bobby, known as the Field Marshal of BJD has been given many helping hands. They include seven senior Ministers, 22 MLAs, one MP and a score of leaders.

However, Bobby, a quiet operator, remains at the helm and report day to day developments to Big Boss.

Bobby enjoys Naveen’s trust since a long time and the young MLA’s political acumen and loyalty has been proved during the by-polls at Bijepur and General Elections of 2019.

He had taken leadership and ensured victory of BJD candidate in Bijepur even as the seat was in hands of opposition Congress for more than a decade.

Interestingly Bobby predicted that BJD will get 105-112 seats in Assembly Polls and surprisingly BJD got 112 Seats.

Polls in Patkura Assembly segment in Kendrapara district have been deferred twice - first due to the death of BJD candidate and then in the wake of Super Storm FANI.

The saffron party has fielded for the Patkura seat veteran leader Bijay Mohapatra, a well-known bete noire of the Chief Minister.

He would be taking on BJD's Sabitri Agarwal and Congress nominee Jayant Mohanty.

Mr.Patnaik’s rivalry with Mr.Mohapatra dates back to two decades when the BJD President denied him a party ticket in 2000.
Since then, Mr.Patnaik has ensured that Mr.Mohapatra lost polls in 2004, 2009 and 2014.

Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Pratap Sarangi, former Union minister and BJP Jual Oram are among the 40 star campaigners who will campaign for the saffron party.

The Congress has also asked its nine MLAs to campaign for its Patkura candidate Jayant Mohanty.

This apart, AICC General secretary Jitendra Singh, Chhattishgarh, Minister Health,
T S Singhdeo, OPCC President Niranjan Patnaik and others will campaign for Congress candidate.

In the recently held Odisha Legislative Assembly election the BJD won 112 seats in the 147-Member House while the BJP bagged 23 and Congress Nine.
