BJP Hits Out TMC

Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) State unit leaders today hit out at the undemocratic action by Trinamaul Congress (TMC) workers at the behest of their leader Mamata Banerjee in attacking BJP National President Amit Shah during his road show near Calcutta University and sat on a peaceful dharna in the Dindayal Park near the State office, making a fervent plea to the Election Commission to ensure measures for free and fair voting in the coming poll.

“Mamata Banerjee is trying to throttle democracy by using violence against his opponents and the Election Commission should ensure strong measures for free and fair election in the ensuing phase,” BJP Vice President Sameer Mohanty.

He alleged that the TMC goons had killed four BJP workers during the sixth phase poll in West Bengal. A BJP worker who provided land for an election rally in Jhargram was mercilessly hanged. Similarly BJP workers are being targeted during this last phase poll, the BJP Media release added.

Referring to the widespread violence during the Panchayat polls, the release said TMC hooligans had killed 19 BJP workers to bulldoze the party’s way to victory.

“Murderous attack on families of BJP workers, instituting false cases against them, suppressing dissent by violent methods has become the modus operandi of Mamata Banerjee. This is all because of her frustration due to fear of losing power to BJP,” the release said adding that here is total anarchy reigning in West Bengal creating a hazy situation for free and fair poll and urging upon the Election Commission to act strongly in the interest of democracy.

The leaders sitting on dharna included party General Secretaries Pruthviraj Harichandan, Bhrugu Baxipatra, General Secretary (organization) Manas Mohanty, State Vice-President Samir Mohanty, Mahila Morcha President Prabhati Parida, Ramaranjan Baliarsingh and Sankarshan Parida.
