Courts To Open Monday

Orissa High Court, State Administrative Tribunal and other Courts which remained closed for the last ten days due to cyclonic ravage in the coastal districts will open from 13 May 13.

Public life in the coastal districts like Puri, Khordha, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Jajpur was thrown into disarray following the extremely severe cyclone Fani on 3 May.

Complete disruption in power supply, roads remaining blocked due to fallen trees and electric poles, non-plying of public transport vehicles and total disruption of the telecom system in the cyclone-hit areas had made it impossible both for litigants, lawyers on the one hand and  judges and magistrates on the other to go to the courts.
Now that restoration works are in progress with restoration of power, clearance of roads, plying of public transport system and restoration of telecom system on top priority, it has been possible for the Courts to function.
