OMC Donates 100 CR


Setting a record of sorts, the Premier State PSU, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) donated Rs 100 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) on 12 May.


OMC Chairman Sanjeev Chopra, Managing Director R Vineel Krishna and Director Finance Satyajit Mohanty handed over the cheque to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat.

OMC has been in forefront taking up CSR activities and when the State is in dire straits due to Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm-FANI, the State PSU has come to help out the State.

Several others including Ramakanta Panda, Managing Director of the Asian Heart Institute, also donated an amount of Rs 1.5 crore to the CMRF.

State Chief Information Commissioner Sunil Kumar Mishra, Gajapati police personnel and the local people of the district were among the donors to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for use in relief and rehabilitation of ‘Fani’ victims.

CIC Mr.Mishra donated his one month’s salary amounting to Rs. 1,55,000 to the Chief Minister Relief Fund.

Mr.Mishra sent his contribution to Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi  for utilization in relief and restoration works in the areas devastated by the very severe cyclone 'Fani' that hit Odisha coast on May 3.

Chief Secretary, Mr.Padhi on behalf of the Government has complimented Mr.Mishra for his gesture.

Meanwhile, the Gajapati district has set an example in police-public coordination for 'public good.'

Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Sarah Sharma, the police officers and staff of the district along with general people have contributed Rs.6,14,076 to the Chief Ministers' Relief Fund.

Ms.Sharma handed over the contribution in shape of a cheque to the Special Secretary General Administration and Public Grievances S N Girish in his office.

Mr.Girish complimented Ms.Sharma for the goodwill gesture.
