State Streamlines Relief

Aftermath FANI, State Government has been able to streamline relief operations, and drinking water supply in the cyclone ravaged zones.


Sanjay Kumar Singh, Secretary Information & Public Relations briefed Media here on 11 May and said that apprehensions were raised over bringing situation to normal condition, which is limping back to normalcy.

Mr.Singh giving out details said due to earlier preparations and hyper active efforts of the Department of Health & Family Welfare, contagious diseases have been contained.

While driniking water supply in Urban Zones have been brought back to normal condition, clearance of roads, debris clearance and management of solid waste is being taken up on continuous manner, said Mr.Singh.

Mr.Singh informed that Rural Water Supply in Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapda, Bhadrakh and Jajpur have been affected by FANI.

However due to continuous efforts out of 2364 Rural Water Supply Systems, 1976 Systems have been made functional, informed he.

Mr.Singh said that the State Government has notified 1.5 Times of Prescribed Wage Rate for all types of Laborers engaged in Cyclone Restoration Work.

Wage Rates are applicable for Skilled, Semi-Skilled and Unskilled Laborers.

This will attract a greater number of competent gangs from within and outside the State, said he.
 
While 25.05 Lakh Consumers in Puri, Khorda, Cuttack, Dehnkanal, Angul, Kendrapada, Jagatisnghpur and Jajpur were affected by FANI, efforts are on to provide electricity on a war footing basis.

 310 Gangs are engaged for electricity restoration works in these FANI Devastated Zone.

While in Bhubaneswar electricity restoration is in full swing, by 12 May cent percent consumers will be restored with electricity, assured he.

Mr.Singh said 4.89 Lakh beneficiaries have been provided cash, 2.69 Lakh people have been provided polythene and in several cases cash have been handed over to people in lieu of Polythene.
