Centurion Faces Double Whammy

Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm-FANI, which wreaked havoc in the Coastal Odisha has severely damaged a Premier Education Institution of Higher Learning- Centurion University of Technology and Management to a large extent.

Preliminary Estimates put loss around Rs.30 Crore, University sources said. Indescribable devastation has been wracked to the institution, admit officials.  

The soul and body of the Centurion Campus at Jatnaik has been mutilated beyond repair. Two cyclones in one year affecting two campuses are beyond any human tolerance zone.

Very Severe Cyclone-Titli heavily damaged Centurion University Campus at Paralakhmundi and it suffered huge financial loss in 2018.

And in 2019, FANI damaged its Jatni Campus on the outskirts of Capital City of Bhubaneswar to a great extent.  

“We have lost 1.5 lakhs square feet covered area and entire 15 acres of greenery. Almost Rs.30 Crore lost in few hours of devastation”, said President of Centurion University, Prof.Mukti Kanta Mishra
Insiders admit that probably campus will never going to be the same. It was a Green Campus and Prof. Mishra feels that 12 years of hard work decimated in 6 hours to Ground Zero.
Centurion University have 3000 students who refused to leave since their homes are destroyed. These students are being taken care as the University authorities are using DG Sets. 
District Administration of Khurda has sent team to gauge the extent of damage in Jatni as these are was worst affected due to FANI. 
Power supply has not been resumed after a week and University authorities have approached the senior officials of CESU to resume power immidaitely.
Sources said in next 24 hours electricity supply will be restored to all the institutions running in these areas.
Several Educational institutions have faced wrath of FANI and CESU authorities are trying hard to provide electrical supply to these institutions said Md. Sadiq Alam, CEO CESU.
