Padhi Timeline For Relief


Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has given Timeline to the senior officials to complete relief and restoration works in the district by 15 May in Kendrapada.


Mr.Padhi, who visited the FANI Ravaged District on 9 May, made detailed review of the progress made in ongoing relief and restoration works in the District.

Principal Secretary Water Rsources, Pradeep Jena, District Collector Prem Chandra Chaudhury, SP
 Niti Sekhar  and other senior officials were present.

The Chief Secretary categorically asked Power Distribution Company Authorities to resume power supply to all Block headquarters in Jagatsinghpur district by 12 May.
 
While drinking water supply has been restored in both these districts through use of gensets and all tube well and sanitary wells have been disinfected.
 
Mr.Padhi has further directed to do accurate assessment of the house and corp damage without any bias or influence.
 
Over 11 lakhs peoples from 651 villages were shifted to 95 cyclone shelters with 4948 relief centres said Collector Prem Chandra Choudhury

Official sources said 1592 villages under 249 Gram Panchayats under Nine Blocks of the District and 41 Wards of Kendrapada and Pattamundai Municipalities were affected due to FANI.

Over 15 lakh people, nearly five lakh animals and over 61,000 birds were hit in the cyclone while 1751 hector cultivated lands, including 6588 hectare Mung, 2651 hectares vegetables and 784 hectares of horticulture land were affected.

At least four persons died while 65 bullocks and cows, 9539 chickens also perished in the calamity.

Primarily 29 houses severely damaged while 18, 540 houses were damaged partly and 3524 thatched houses and 4910 cowsheds were destroyed in the district.

Over 32733 quintals of rice was distributed among the affected peoples of nine Blocks and two Municipalities of the district, said an official.
