Fire Personnel In FANI Zone

 

Odisha Fire Service Personnel are now engaged in cutting trees, supplying drinking water and helping out the Power Distribution Authorities in a big way.
With slum dwellers in Capital City, Cuttack and Puri facing water woes due to extremely severe cyclonic storm-FANI, Odisha Fire Service has started distributing drinking water in these areas.
Development Commissioner and ACS Home Asit Tripathy, who is supervising electricity and water supply resumption in the FANI Affected areas suggested DG Fire Services B K Sharma to use the Fire Tenders in service.
Mr.Sharma immediately asked the Fire Service Personnel to start providing drinking water in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Cuttack.
Senior officers supervising these teams in Seven Zones created in Bhubaneswar.
 Water supply through Fire tenders being utilized for water distribution, which started in Medical Basti, Ward no 56 BJB Nagar Bhubaneswar today afternoon.
This initiative is also taken up from today in Cuttack and also Puri.
Sources said that 15000/18000 litres tenders along with smaller tenders being used for the purpose.
People in slums are very happy as they were facing drinking water shortage due to cyclone.
Similarly Fire Service Personnel are working in Bhubaneswar on 6 May for road clearance.
65 Teams are engaged in the operation and these teams are assisting CESU and BMC to restore electric and water supply.
26 Fire Teams tagged to CESU teams for tree cutting so that electric restoration can be faster.
Each team comprises of 5 Firemen with cutters and combitools and it is helping the CESU authorities to provide electricity in the affected areas.
