State Police Chief has deputed 11 senior IPS Officers to the districts likely to be affected by Extremely Severe Cyclone Fani to oversee the police arrangements and coordinate with the District Administration.

 
DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma took a meeting to review the preparedness to meet all probable challenges arising out of the impending tropical severe cyclone FANI”, in presence of all senior officers on 1 May.
 
He has directed to ensure that additional logistics and manpower are available in the Police Stations and districts of probable affected districts.
 
All communication equipments shall be made available to all field functionaries for uninterrupted communication.
 
The State Control Room has been geared up to remain in touch 24X7 with all field units of affected districts.
 
The SsP of affected districts have been directed to make their control rooms and DIBs functional round the clock. ODRAF units have already been pre-positioned with all equipments and gadgets. All SsP/ DCPs/ Range IG/DIsG and CP, BBSR have been directed to remain on high alert and vigil.
 
Leave of all kinds from Constabulary to IPS officers have been cancelled and those who are on leave are being recalled to resume duty immediately. Senior officers have been directed by DGP to proceed immediately to the likely affected districts to oversee the police arrangements and coordinate with the district administration and other connected line agencies and field functionaries for rescue and relief operations.

Evacuation and rescue of people likely to be affected to safe places, restoration of road communication immediately after cyclone and proper distribution of relief materials with zero causality are among the foremost priority of Odisha Police, as expressed by DGP, Dr Sharma.
 
Crime Branch ADG Santosh Kumar Upadhyaya has been given charge of Jajpur, while Pranabindu Achrya, ADGP Railways and Cpastal Security is kept in charge of Jagatsinghpur, Vinanytosh Mishra, ADGP Modernization is kept in charge of Bhadrakh.
 
R P Koche, ADGP Operations is given charge of Khurda, Saumendra Kumar Priyadarshi IGP Central Range given charge of Puri, Arun Bothra, IGP Crime Branch is given charge of Kendrapada, Amitabh Thakur, IGP State Armed Police is kept in charge of Ganjam.
 
Ghanshyam Upadhyay, DIGP State Intelligence Wing is given charge of Nayagarh, Amitendra Nath Sinha is given charge of Balasore, Nikhil Kumar Kanodia DIGP Economic Offence Wing is given charge of Cuttack and Shafeen Ahmed K is kept in charge of mayrubhanj.
