Politicos Condemns Khurda Killing

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Leaders condemned killing of their active worker in Khurda, Manguli Jena and in protest they observed Shut Down for several hours on 15 April.

 
Armed goons have gunned down Mr.Jena, a local BJP leader in Khurda town on Sunday midnight when he was standing near the house of BJP's candidate for Khurda Assembly seat, Kalu Charan Khandayat and discussing with party workers.
 
Later he was rushed to Khurda district headquarters hospital where the doctors declared him "brought dead".
 
The police immediately sealed the town and started investigation into the incident.
 
Raids were being conducted at various places in Khurda to apprehend the assailants.
         
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan appealed to the workers and leaders of the saffron party to keep faith in democracy and maintain peace at this time.
 
"People will give their reply to bullet through ballot in the coming election," Mr.Pradhan said.
 
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also condemned the killing of the saffron leader and urged the ECI to direct the police to take stringent action against the culprits.
 
"There is no place of violence in democracy. I convey my deep condolence to the bereaved family," Mr.Patnaik tweeted.
 
BJD candidate for Khurda assembly seat, Jitu Mitra said, "I condemn this incident. This is for the first time in my 40-year long political career that a political leader has been killed in Khurda."

DGP Bijay Kumar Sharma said that IG Central Zone would supervise the investigation into this murder.
 
“As many as four police teams have been formed for the probe. A Crime Branch team and a Forensic team are assisting them.. Our prime aim is to identify and arrest the accused,” said Mr.Sharma.
 
BJD  has also condemned the murder of BJP leader in Khordha and stated that neither the party nor the Chief Minister did ever believe in political violence.
 
 BJD Spokespersons, Sambit Patra and Lenin Mohanty said BJD has always reposed its faith in a stable democratic system and it is prepared to pay any price to uphold its conviction.
