Pradhan Papers Valid

Nomination Papers of Nalini Kanta Pradhan, BJD’s Lok Sabha candidate from Sambalpur were found valid.

Accordingly the Returning Officer announced that candidature of Mr.Pradhan was valid.
BJP raised objection and demanded rejection of the nomination papers.
However, the BJP has threatened to move the High Court against this decision.
The BJP candidate Nitesh Ganga Deb has alleged that the hearing on the matter was done illegally.
“The returning officer had accepted that there was a blank column in the affidavit filed by Nalini Pradhan, but still nomination was allowed; this shows the corrupt nature of the State Government,” Mr.Ganga Deb said.
Notably, earlier Mr.Pradhan had filed his nomination but after Nitesh levelled ‘Office of profit’ allegations, the former’s nomination was postponed and an investigation ordered.
The hearing of the case was done by the District Magistrate today in presence of both the sides.
“I submitted all the documents required for the investigation of the validity of my candidature. Subsequently, I was informed that my candidature is valid,” said Mr.Pradhan.
It was alleged that though Mr.Pradhan has resigned from services, he still continues to be the Director of Odisha Construction Corporation and Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation.
Mr.Pradhan vehemently opposed the demand by presenting all the relevant papers including that of Chairman as Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC).
Sambalpur DM and Returning Officer, Subham Saxena said, “We have given a clean chit to Mr.Pradhan as all the documents prove that there is no case of office of profit.”
