Jay Chopper Hits BJD Block

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has demanded action against Kendrapara Lok Sabha candidate Baijayant Panda for using helicopter during election campaign without valid permission.

In a Memorandum to the CEO, Surendra Kumar, a delegation of BJD  said, Mr.Panda has violated the Model Code of Conduct as the helicopters do not have commercial charter.

The Memorandum alleged that Mr.Panda has been using helicopters of Indian Metal and Ferro Alloys Limited (IMFA) for campaigning.
“However, it has come to our knowledge that IMFA company does not have commercial charter which is mandated as per Election Commission of India Guidelines,” BJD alleged.
It said as per mandate, the IMFA company helicopters need to have commercial charter and based on that charter can a person hire those helicopters.
And if it is an election contesting candidate, he or she must also furnish the expenditure in his or her poll expenditure statement, the memorandum said.
“In the absence of the commercial charter, both the IMFA company as well as BJP leader Baijayant Panda would be guilty of having violated Election Commission of India guidelines,” the BJD Memorandum pointed out.
