DFIC To Guide States

Doubling Farmer’s Income Committee (DFIC) has been empowered to function as a ‘Body’ to guide and monitor the progress of the efforts to double the farmer’s income.

Accordingly DFIC Chairman Ashok Dalwai has said that the State Government, which has been scaling up such activities to achieve the desired target, will get required support from the Empowered body on DFI.

Dr.Dalwai, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) National Rainfed Area Authority (NRRA) has written to the State Government in this regard and urged for support.

Union Government involved universities, trade, professional institutions and various associations for preparation of the Reports on doubling farmers’ income, while adopting participatory approach.

Dr.Dalwai, who chaired the Inter Ministerial Committee to prepare Doubling Farmers’ Income(DFI) by 2022 has already presented the Report to Union Government and it has been accepted.

Most importantly, Union Budget also incorporated and made financial provisions to carry forward these recommendations, said Dr.Dalwai.

Now strategies are being planned out for which support of the State Governments are being roped in. Odisha, being an agrarian state, it support for this initiative is needed much.

The Committee Report contained in fourteen thematic volumes already released for the public. Now with the Report in hand, strategies are being chalked out to implement the massive program.

All these volumes contains specific activities, plans and way forward to achieve the target , said a senior officer.

Now the State Government will have to refer to the complete Report of DFIC for their respective plan and accelerate the pace of growth and transformation of agriculture, with farmers’ income as the basis for such changes, said the sources.

And DFIC will provide any required support for doubling farmers’ income within a stipulated period, said the official.
