State Gets 1560 New Docs


Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today felicitated the newly appointed Doctors who have been posted as Assistant Surgeons at different Government health facilities throughout the State. As many as 1560 doctors have been appointed in last two days.

 
Expressing his satisfaction over the appointment of such a huge number of doctors at one go, the Chief Minister said it is truly a historic step in providing better healthcare services for the people.
 
He advised the doctors to work hard to carry forward various health services programs so that not a single person is deprived of appropriate service.
 
Development Commissioner Asit Tripathy, Principal Secretary Finance Ashok Kumar Meena Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Pramod Kumar Meherda, Special Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Salini Pandit and other senior officers were present.
 
It may be noted here that this is the highest number ever to join the Odisha Medical Services in one go. 
 
Health Secretary Dr. Meherda said that with this appointment, the total strength of doctors at Government facilities has gone up to 6329 which is 94 percent of the total sanctioned strength of doctors.
 
Some doctors, interacting with the Chief Minister, thanked him for the various attractive provisions for the doctors like the new restructured medical service cadre and the assured promotions for them.
 
Notably, after appointing 938 doctors on Thursday, the State Government on Friday approved the appointment of 600 physicians to cope up with the large scale vacancy of doctors in state run hospitals.

With the fresh approval, the State Government appointed as many as 1,538 new doctors in all district headquarters hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, primary health centres (PHCs) and community health centres (CHCs).

Congratulating the newly appointed doctors, Mr.Patnaik exhorted them to sincerely and diligently discharge their duties and provide better healthcare to people.
