Jay Joins BJP

Former MP Baijyant 'Jay' Panda joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday, after a long innings in Biju Janata Dal.

His joining will give boost to the party, said Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while welcoming Mr.Panda.
BJP leaders were seen happy as the party is trying hard to improve its tally in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly Polls.
Union Minister Jual Oram also welcomed him and said his joining will strengthen the party.

The Assembly poll in the state is likely to be held along with the parliamentary elections, and the party hopes that the presence of Mr.Panda will brighten its prospects, especially in Coastal Odisha.

Mr.Panda later met BJP President Amit Shah after joining  the party at its office in the National Capital.

Mr.Panda, who is the Co-Founder of OTV is a major Media House in the State had been a leading parliamentarian of Odisha.
Though he was a close associate of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, he later  before he fell out with its leadership.
His proximity with the BJP in general and specifically his allegiance for Prime Minister Narendra Modi irked BJD Leadership and he was suspended from the Party in May 2018 for "anti-party" activities.
Later he resigned from the BJD and also the Lok Sabha Seat of Kendrapada, where he represented the constituency twice.
He has also represented the state in the Upper House two times.

The BJD had accused him of "anti-party activities" to justify his suspension. It later alleged that he was involved in money laundering as it sought a probe.

Mr.Panda had denied the charges time and again.
