Jogesh Singh Joins BJD


Following footsteps of Naba Kishore Das, Former Lawmaker, Jogesh Singh formally joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on 6 February.

 
He had resigned from resigned from the Congress on 18 January and had also left the MLA Post.
 
Mr.Singh, who represented Sundargarh Assembly seat, joined the BJD in the presence of Chief Minister and Party Supremo Naveen Patnaik.
 
 Welcoming the Strongman from Sundargarh, Mr.Patnaik said Mr.Singh's joining will further strengthen the BJD in the tribal dominated Sundargarh.
 
Mr.Singh's entry into the Governing Party coincided with the visit of Congress President Rahul Gandhi to Odisha to address rallies at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district and Rourkela in Sundrgarh district today.
 
Assembly elections in Odisha will be held along with the Lok Sabha elections.
 
Mr.Singh touching feet of the Chief Minister said he will work with dedication and commitment under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik to keep development of Sundargarh and welfare of its people on fast track.
 
Mr.Singh sent his resignation to the National Congress President Rahul Gandhi on 'moral ground' after he was suspended by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on charge of making alleged anti-party remarks.

The party had suspended Mr.Singh from Congress after he publicly praised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on several occasions.
 Later, he resigned as a Member of Odisha Legislative Assembly on 22, January.
 
Prior to his suspension, Mr.Singh, a two-time Lawmaker, had also announced that he would not attend Rahul Gandhi’s meeting in Bhubaneswar on 25 January.
 
Mr.Singh along with hundreds of his supporters joined the Party, which eyes to retain power for the fifth time in Odisha.
