KALIA Scholarship Announced

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Sunday announced scholarships for the children of KALIA beneficiaries.

Mr.Patnaik made the announcement while addressing a farmers convention in Keonjhar.

"I want your children should become doctors, engineers, lawyers or any other professional. Therefore, I have planned KALIA Students Scholarship for higher studies of your children," Patnaik said.

"Let your children study well and the State Government will take responsibility of their higher studies," the chief minister said.
Mr.Patnaik inaugurated welfare projects worth Rs 66 crore.

He also laid foundation stones for various projects worth Rs 2,100 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister made three important announcements.

These were- Improvement of the Sub-divisional Hospital of Rairangpur to make it a 100-bedded hospital on PPP mode, construction of a modern stadium with modern facilities for the development of sports and PA ITDA officer at Rairangpur to act as ADM specifically for the sub-division.

The Chief Minister said the State Government has implemented Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) Scheme for the overall welfare of farmers in Odisha.

About 66 lakh people have so far applied for the Flagship Program.

Under the scheme, a beneficiary will get an assistance of Rs 10,000 per year for cultivating crops.

Apart from small and marginal farmers, KALIA also covers the landless farmers, agricultural labourers and farmers in distress.
