Naveen Lauds Brave Hearts


Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik felicitated Asima and Sabita, the two brave hearts, who saved several lives in the recent Hukitola boat tragedy.


Mr.Pattnaik praised the bravery of the two courageous gilrs and gifted them books, educational implements and citations.

He also promised them help for higher education and financial assistance.

Mr.Pattnaik talked to the girls about their study, made queries about the boat tragedy and their role in rescue of the victims.

Former Minister and Lawmaker from Mahakalpada, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, was present during the felicitation.
Earlier in Kendrapara, Two minor girls were among six people who were felicitated by District Administration Saturday for saving lives of several villagers following a boat capsize here.
A mechanized boat ferrying passengers capsized in the River Mahanadi on 2 January, apparently after losing balance. At least 10 people, including seven children, were killed in the incident.
Women and Child Development Minister Prafulla Samal rewarded the six residents of Nipania village at Mahakalpada block of the district with a cheque of Rs 10,000 for their noble and timely action.
 District Collector Dasarathy Satpathy, who was present at the program, said the "the brave souls have saved at least ten people".
"They wasted no time and dived into the rivulet and dragged ten persons out, mostly women and children. If not for their valour, the toll would have been higher," he said, adding that the administration will recommended their names for Jeevan Raksha Padak, a civilian life saving award instituted by the Union Government.
