Outreach On Low Key

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched MSME Support and Outreach Campaign for 100 Days, from 2 November to provide all out support for the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises across the country, in Odisha it was organized in a low key manner.

Prime Minister Mr.Modi launched the 100 Days Program on Friday at Vigyan Bhawan in presence of Union Ministers, however in Odisha it received less attention of the State Government.

Campaign was to be launched in 100 Districts; however as some of the poll going States will have it later, 74 Districts are now covered in the Program, sources said.

It seems the State Government is not happy over the appointment of Prabhari Officers for MSME Development as the State Authorities were not consulted before these senior Bureaucrats were appointed.

Four Prabhari Officers are appointed for Puri, Cuttack, Jagatisnghpur and Bargarh and these officers have reached the designated Districts.

While Joint Secretary Food Processing Industries, Parag Gupta has been assigned Handicraft Sector in Puri District, S K Vashishth has reached Bargarh for Handloom Sector Development.

For Gems and Jewellery Sector in Cuttack District, Jatindra Nath Swain has been appointed as Prabhari Officer, who is the Managing Director of Solar energy Corporation of India (SECI).

Mr.Swain is also assigned Dhenkanal Aspirational District as Prabhari Officer.

For the Food Processing Sector in Paradip in Jagatsinghpur District, Nikunja Kishore Sundaray is the Prabhari Officer, who serving as Joint Secretary in Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change.

While these senior officers are meeting the officials of the District for 100 Days Program, District Collectors, who are busy in other developmental programs are finding it difficult to spare time for the Outreach Program, said sources.

Union Cabinet Secretary is monitoring the Program with all the Chief Secretaries of the State Governments and Union Territories.

Ministry of Finance is extending its all out support for the MSME Outreach Program and Rajiv Kumar, Secretary Financial Services has requested the State Government to extend support for the Support and Outreach Program on MSME.

Department of Financial Services has built a Dash Board to monitor the activities of the Prabhari Officers in the District Level, for which these officers will be uploading all the activities separately.

For which Commercial Bank Officials and District Lead Bank Manager have been specially asked by the Department of Financial Services extend their fullest cooperation in this regard.

Enthused by Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA) Program, Union Government has started this outreach program, which has not received wide support from the State Government, pointed out a Prabhari Officer.

However, in Odisha ACS MSME L N Gupta is coordinating the MSME Support and Outreach Program, said sources. Department of MSME Officials are extending all out support for the Outreach program, said a senior official.
