Airport Gets Sai Tag

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved renaming of Jharsuguda Airport, Odisha as “Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda”.

 
Union Minister Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan said that the Union Cabinet has taken the decision keeping in view the demand of the people of the state.
 
Mr.Pradhan thanked Prime Minister for such an action, which has endeared him to the people of Odisha.
 
Veer Surendra Sai is a well-known freedom fighter of Odisha. Renaming of the Jharsuguda airport in his name will fulfil long-pending demand of the Odisha Government, which reflects the sentiments of the local public of the respective area.
 
It will also be a befitting tribute to the contribution of the revered personality associated with the State.
 
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had written to the Prime Minister requesting to name Jharsuguda Airport as Veer Surendra Sai Airport.
